30 weeks!

Week 30 !!!! The weeks are flying.
Well this week Baby G. is the size of  a big head of cabbage.
Baby G. is now  about 15.7 inches long now, and he weighs almost 3 pounds. We'll actually get a real weight estimate at our ultrasound on Monday! A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds him. His skin is getting smoother, but his brain is getting wrinklier - to make way for all that essential brain tissue. He's now strong enough to grasp a finger!(source Bump). He is also strong enough to punch and kick me until I wake up or switch positions to one he likes better and I have gotten some swift kicks to the ribs too.
Baby Gear- The swaddle blanket or what I like to call the baby straight jacket. It is a swaddle blanket with velcro. It is suppose to mimic conditions in the womb and make baby sleep longer. All the books that I have read, including The Happiest Baby on the Block, say it is a must. I am going to give it a try but I am skeptical.

Duncan doesn't think it's a good idea and wants me to stop trying out baby gear on his toys!

Baby G.- I have not figured out if he loves granite or hates it. Every time I forget and lean against the granite island in the kitchen he promptly punches me. Maybe it is because the granite is cold?
Bump Report- Here are a couple of pictures at 30 weeks- I had a doctor's appointment this morning and I am measuring one week ahead at 31 weeks.

Heat Report- The heat is almost finally over or its only in the high 80's low 90's what we here in the South call a cold front.
Exercise- Jef and I have started walking much more at night since the weather is cooperating.
Rex Hospital AKA The Rex Carlton- Hilarious! Rex Hospital, the hospital I am delivering at, has received a couple of more honors, besides, the amazing healthcare, being a magnet hospital with the cream of the crop nurses, it was named one of the best places to eat!
Not only do you get a private nurse along with your private room, you can now get a spinach and goat cheese omelet for breakfast. Rex was named by GQ Magazine one of the strangest places to get the best food! Apparently, they won a national competition.
Here is an excerpt:  GQ-Article
Cravings -  almond butter , cauliflower, carrots, sweet potatoes, black beans, fig newtons and oatmeal.
Aversions-  chicken and I can't believe I am writing this.... chocolate.
Looking forward to- Big ultrasound next week. It will give us a real estimate of Baby G.'s length and weight at this point.
