Wow I can't believe I have only 80 something days to go. Not that I am counting or freaking out or anything!
Well this week Baby G. is the size of a rutabaga.
- He's practicing inhaling and exhaling with his rapidly developing lungs.
- It's official: Baby's showing brain activity! And his brain will keep on getting more complex. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now.
- He's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing his eyes, and perhaps even sucking his fingers. (source Bump)
For those of you that have asked Baby G. Stands for Baby Guzik. Not G$$ or the initial of his first name.
Bump Report -Here is the latest picture:
Please excuse the mess and the cat on the bed.
Nursery & Baby Gear- Still waiting for the furniture! The store stated 8-12 weeks and a quick calendar check shows that the furniture should arrive anywhere from September 8th to October 6th. Plenty of time but cutting it close! I did pick up this J.J. Cole bundler so that we can keep Baby G. warm and cozy when we go to Kansas or N.Y. We probably won't have much use for it in North Carolina unless we have an usually cold winter. The important thing is that it matches my Uggs!
Books- Jef and I have been picking out our favorite childhood books to read to Baby G. Research shows that if you consistently read the same book to the baby while he is in utero that the baby will actually recognize it if you read it to him after he is born. Apparently this can be very soothing to a newborn. So with that in mind we have been reading our favorites to Baby G.
Mine was:
Cravings- Zucchini & eggplant (this makes Jef gag!) and strawberries.
Aversions- Comes and goes. No true aversions more like Ehh things just don't seem unappetizing.
Looking Forward to-The end of the summer and the heat!
Things I have learned from researching baby care this week- The American Pediatrics Association no longer recommends taking rectal temperatures at home. It is recommended that you use a regular digital thermometer under the arm.
Sleep Sacks are recommended over regular swaddle blankets because there is much less of a chance that the blanket will become undone and pose a suffocation hazard.
It is now recommended that you bathe the Baby only twice a week because babies have such sensitive skin.
